Holly Academy has prioritized face-to-face teaching and learning since August 31st and will continue to do so, within our power. As you know, there has been a significant increase of COVID-19 cases in Michigan. Should MDHHS make the decision to close K-8 schools we will be forced to close.
The Academy Board of Directors met last night. At each Board meeting the Board must discuss our Extended COVID-19 Learning Plan and any revisions to that plan. The decision last night was for Holly Academy’s last day of face-to-face instruction to occur on Friday, December 11, 2020. For the week of December 14th-18th, Holly Academy will move to remote learning. THIS IS FOR THIS SPECIFIC WEEK ONLY. We intend to return to face-to-face teaching and learning on Monday, January 4, 2021.
This break from face-to-face instruction allows our students and staff to quarantine prior to the holidays during winter break. We understand the importance of being able to visit family members safely. Since Holly Academy has had uninterrupted face-to-face teaching and learning, we want to err on the side of caution and safety for our Husky families.
Soon you will be receiving your Husky’s virtual learning schedule for the 4.5 days impacted by this decision. Please click on the link below to indicate whether you will need a Chromebook for this identified time period. Middle school students already have either their own device or a school device. The Chromebook request pertains to elementary students (Y5-5th) All Chromebooks loaned for this period must be returned on Monday, January 4th.
Our hope is that by giving you this three-week notice you will have sufficient time to secure alternate arrangements for your Huskies. By providing this alternate learning format, we are offering the greatest opportunity for family time and traditions to continue.
